The event helps raise awareness of services available to women in our community and offers an opportunity for them to find out about a range of events, support, advice, volunteer work and training open to them in the North West and throughout the Region.

Building on from last year’s numbers an increase to 111 women attended the day. Feedback as always was invaluable and sent a clear message that events such as these are invaluable, necessary and very beneficial. It was noted that a diverse and wide range of services was on display and that this was one of few opportunities to meet people and hear about projects across the City.

In conjunction to our regular attendees the day also welcomed women who were new to FWIN. The integration of the different service users; those familiar with and those new to our events; those from different sides of the community; those from rural and city areas and those from varying age groups was a huge achievement in itself. The biggest triumph however, was in how these women effortlessly interacted with each other, each hoping to discover and meet their own individual needs and collectively striving to reach out and connect with others.

An impressive 30 organisations took part in displaying stands and taking time to speak with individuals sharing information and offering a variety of opportunities. Each reported that the event proved to be very successful in that they got to speak directly with many members of the public, but it was also excellent in allowing them to network and build contacts with other businesses.

The success of the event was rounded off with a luxurious finger buffet arranged by FWIN and provided by Café Zest. This again afforded women more time to mix and learn about each other. FWIN staff would like to say a huge thank you to St Augustine’s Hall for allowing us host our event and to Café Zest for the catering, the organisations who displayed stands and to all the women who took time out for themselves to explore what is available to them and where they can access it.

A final thanks to members of our committee who came and whose help on the day was invaluable.
