Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission have now submitted a shadow report to the UN CEDAW Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women

The next stage is to attend the UN CEDAW Committee’s examination of the UK at the end of February. This will involve a number of side meetings with Committee members on Monday 25 February and attending the examination on Tuesday 26 February, during which we will be taking advantage of every opportunity to raise the issues within our shadow report. It is also a prime opportunity to highlight any developments that have occurred since submission of the shadow report or expected future developments that we have become aware of since submitting.

The Committee’s concluding observations (the recommendations it makes to the UK on the basis of the evidence it has received) are due to be published on Monday 11 March, after which, we will be highlighting and encouraging implementation of these at every available opportunity.
