At FWIN, we are committed to eliminating violence against women and girls in all its forms. Our Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG) Programme is a powerful, six-week initiative designed to raise awareness, build understanding, and support safer communities across Derry and Strabane.
This programme is available to community groups, clubs, workplaces, and organisations. It creates a welcoming, trauma-informed space to explore the many forms of violence women and girls face—whether visible or hidden—and empowers participants with the tools to recognise, respond, and take meaningful action.
Each session is delivered by our EVAWG Project Officer, Holly Reed, and includes engaging discussions, real-life examples, and expert guest speakers, including representatives from the PSNI.
The programme covers:
Abuse in Northern Ireland – A look at current trends, data, and real-life impact.
Types of Abuse – Physical, emotional, sexual, financial, coercive control, and stalking.
Digital Abuse – How tech is used to harass, monitor, and control.
PSNI Response – How police handle domestic abuse and support victims.
Community Support – How to recognise abuse and help safely.
Whether you’re hoping to equip your team with more knowledge, support your community, or begin your own learning journey, this programme offers a compassionate and empowering foundation.
The EVAWG Programme is proudly funded by the Derry City and Strabane Local Change Fund, a vital investment in grassroots efforts to eliminate gender-based violence.
