Meet Our Spring Intern!

We are thrilled to introduce you to the newest member of our team - Maya Mortenson!

Maya is a third-year university student from Minnesota, USA. Back home she attends Macalester College and studies Political Science. Currently, Maya is enrolled in a study abroad program based at Ulster University. FWIN is extremely excited to have an intern from Ulster University.

Maya has been working with us since the end of February and will be here until the 18th of April. She will be supporting the work of our Communications, Policy and Engagement Officer. Maya was inspired to join FWIN as an intern because she is passionate about advocating for women’s rights and was excited by the opportunity to work with an organization that empowers women and promotes gender equality while abroad.

She is excited to learn how FWIN’s programmes empower women and impact the community. To Maya women’s empowerment means supporting women in ways that allow them to lead the life they envision for themselves that is full of dignity, self-respect, and joy.

When Maya is not working or studying she enjoys trying new coffee shops and restaurants, baking, reading, and spending time outdoors. You may be surprised to learn that Maya is conversational in Russian! Join us in welcoming Maya!
