Eliminating Violence Against Women & Girls: A Public Meeting

FWIN was proud to attend the Public Meeting on Violence Against Women and Girls, where our coordinator, Catherine Cooke, joined the community panel at the invitation of the Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District.

Catherine spoke passionately about the urgent work required to address genderbased violence and stressed the importance of community collaboration in driving meaningful change.

The meeting showcased the incredible efforts already underway in our city, with powerful contributions from organizations and individuals alike. A heartfelt thank you goes to those who bravely shared their lived experiences. Their voices reminded us that behind every statistic are real women— mothers, sisters, daughters, and friends— whose safety and dignity must remain our priority.

This event is a vital step toward raising awareness, fostering stronger action, and building a united community effort to end violence against women and girls.

FWIN is committed to working alongside local authorities, community groups, and the Council to ensure these conversations lead to real, lasting change for women and girls in our city.
