Cross-Community Trip to Dublin Opens Hearts and Minds

We recently had the joy of bringing together women from Creggan and Tullyally for a powerful cross-community residential in Dublin, focused on deepening our shared understanding of diversity and inclusion.

Over two days, our group explored what it truly means to build inclusive communities—ones where every voice is valued, and where difference is seen not as a barrier, but as a strength.

Our first stop was with AkiDwA, a leading national network supporting migrant women in Ireland. In a deeply moving session, we listened to real-life stories that shed light on the challenges migrant women face, from navigating legal systems to confronting racism and isolation. We also learned about the powerful grassroots support structures that are driving change.

Next, we had the rare opportunity to visit Dáil Éireann, the seat of the Irish Parliament. There, we met with politicians who shared insight into the evolving nature of immigration policy, and the delicate balance between social integration, human rights, and public perception in today’s Ireland.

We also explored EPIC: The Irish Emigration Museum, where we traced Ireland’s own story of migration—one of hardship, resilience, and identity carried across oceans. It was a poignant reminder that migration is not new—it’s a part of our collective history, and it shapes who we are today.

Throughout the trip, what stood out most was the connection between participants. Many women described the experience as eye-opening, leaving with a renewed commitment to listening, learning, and fostering inclusion—both within and beyond their own communities.

This residential wasn’t just about travel—it was about transformation. And we’re so proud of the openness, curiosity, and compassion every woman brought to the journey.

Here’s to building bridges—one conversation at a time.
