Kabosh Theatre Company’s 'Reunion' Leaves a Lasting Impact

Last month, we had the honour of welcoming the phenomenal Kabosh Theatre Company to the Holywell Trust for a performance of their deeply moving piece, Reunion—a powerful and thought-provoking production exploring the long-term impact of conflict-related violence against women, and the strength it takes to heal, survive, and rebuild.

For over two decades, Kabosh has been pushing the boundaries of theatre in Northern Ireland. Their work is rooted in truth-telling, conflict transformation, and amplifying voices that are too often silenced. By blending compelling storytelling with lived experience, Kabosh creates space for difficult conversations—and Reunion was no exception.

The production follows the stories of a women navigating the aftermath of conflict, bringing to light the intergenerational trauma, silence, and resilience that echo across decades. With powerful performances, minimal staging, and deeply emotional writing, Reunion struck a chord with every person in the room. It reminded us that healing is never linear, but always possible.

What makes Kabosh’s work so essential is their commitment to community engagement. They don't just perform for audiences—they perform with purpose, inviting reflection, dialogue, and often, healing. Their ability to address complex social issues through an artistic lens is exactly what makes their work resonate so deeply across communities.

The evening was made even more special as we celebrated the amazing women who have completed our Eliminating Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG) programme so far. Reunion added a profound layer of meaning to this celebration—bringing home the urgency and importance of the work we’re doing together.

We are so grateful to Kabosh for sharing this story, and for reminding us of the transformative power of art.
