Annual General Meeting and Inspirational Women Event
On October 1st we had such a lovely and informative time with our AGM followed by an Inspirational Women’s Event where MLA Cara Hunter and Jennifer Smyth from Jenn’s Gym.
We reflected on all of FWIN's work across 2023 - 2025 and the impact it has had on our members and surrounding communities. We love the work we do at FWIN and all of the support and input we received from our members today really confirmed to us that we are moving in the right direction. We couldn’t do it without you!
We are built from community and friendship, a collective of incredible women who join us in changing the bigger picture for women in Northern Ireland. We hear each and every one of your voices and we will continue to do our best to support you, to bring you fun events, and organize important and informative talks.
Once we finished the AGM after a brief break we were joined by Cara Hunter who spoke about the important work she is doing to help end violence against women and girls, support victims of violence and abuse, improve educational support for children with additional needs, and much more. Cara works tirelessly for her constituents throughout her political career, so it was a fantastic opportunity to talk with someone fighting for real change, and have our voices heard.
After Cara spoke, we heard Jennifer’s amazing story. After a freak accident while at gymnastics training changed her life, she opened an incredible, truly accessible gym. Jennifer saw that our healthcare system was unable to provide adequate support and physiotherapy for people with a neurological condition or managing a disability, so she took matters into her own hands and created a space for disabled people to come together and safely complete their physiotherapy, work on their fitness goals, and support each other.
Jennifer built Jenn’s Gym with community in mind, and we’re delighted to see the community continue to support Jennifer as her business grows.
We had a fantastic turnout and it was great to hear how many questions were asked!
We'd like to thank everyone who came to this event, those who sent their apologies, and everyone else who continues to support us online and at our many events and programmes.
We'd also like to thank all of our funders who make our events and programmes possible, and to our board members who work quietly behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly.
And of course a wee thank you to all of our staff, past and present, who have poured so much love and energy into everything we do.
